CHILLED

- A COOL STORY WITH A WARM MESSAGE

In November 2018 Elanti Media travelled to Scott Base, Antarctica supported by Antarctica NZ, as part of their Community Engagement Programme, to create a touring educational play for primary school children.

In collaboration with New Zealand Playhouse - the play "Chilled" is now touring New Zealand primary schools in in terms 3 and 4, 2020 (slightly delayed by Covid19!).

We are delighted to be able to share a free PDF resource pack created in association with the International Antarctic Centre, that works with the play or alongside any Antarctic themed work you may be doing in class. (Click on the image to download the PDF).

And to further strengthen learning - enjoy our series of 4 short videos below. Teachers are welcome to use these in class in any way they would find useful!

A HUGE thanks to everyone at Scott Base and all the wonderful scientists we spoke with in Antarctica - especially:

Dr Natalie Robinson, Prof Ken Ryan, Dr Vanessa Lucieer, and Florence Isaacs.

Also - thanks very much to Dr Leigh Tait at NIWA who has kindly allowed us to use some of his beautiful underwater imagery from his work with the team at Cape Evans, McMurdo Sound, Antarctica (part of Ken and Vanessa’s research in the Algae and Sea Ice episode below).

And grateful thanks to the following organisations for helping to make this project possible!

EAST TO EAST

- THE STORY OF THE COAST TO COAST RANGERS

We have developed an Education pack for East to East (resource kit, images, and film) that links to the NZQA Curriculum for high school students, focussing on resilience, grit and positive education.

The content works well in the Hauora, Health and Well-being curriculum but could also be adapted to PE, English, Social Studies and Film Studies.

Feel free to download the Resource Kit PDF and see if it is useful to you and your students. If you would like to screen the film in class - simply email us and we will send you an online link to the film (free). If you prefer a DVD there is a small charge to cover costs.

Any questions? Need to know more? Please send us a message and we will be in touch!
